When you look at a Mercedes E-class, you realize it is not just the work of a group of people. It is the result of a constantly refined tradition, with an unending story told best by the all new Mercedes E-250 Elegance. This baby not only has sleek aerodynamics that defines visual perfection, it has also provided a super smooth ride synonymous with comfort and elegance for over 100 years.
First introduced in2010, the current Mercedes Benz E-Class has been a top seller for the German luxury automaker and on March 2012 the 500000th E-Class sedan rolled off the production line in Sindelfingen, Germany. (This figure only represents the production of current generation e class sedans with exclusions of the E-Class coupe and e class cabriolet.) Their ingenuity not stopping short, the e class designers recently unveiled the hybrid version: the E-400 and E-350 Blue TEC Hybrid capable of 56 mpg on the European combined cycle.
This is one car you will not have to chew your lips off while stuck in traffic. A new chassis and dampers that adapt to the driving conditions make this as comfortable and cruisy as a luxury sedan can get. Sitting on the driver’s seat alone is quite an experience and certainly only in few cars will you find the working of the gear lever transmitted electronically through a cable. It entails full Bluetooth audio streaming as well as a 6 GB hard drive to store your favorite tunes. Talking of music, it is played through Harman/Kardon LOGIC 7 surround system to cater for the long journeys. The rear seats are slightly reclining with plenty of head and leg room, which are very practical for a family car.
Want to die in an accident? Then don’t drive an e class. Its safety measures entail the PRE -SAFE systems which not only tightens the seat belts before an unavoidable accident, but also automatically closes windows, sunroof, fills up air cushions on the multi -contour seats and even moves the front seats to a safer position in the crucial moments before an accident. It also includes 11 airbags: front, side and rear ones, pelvic bag, full size window-bags for driver and front passenger and a knee-bag for the driver. That aside, the prime thought that you are in a Mercedes E-Class is enough to prevent you from dying. Ha! Ha!
The E-Class is a beautiful car in its own right, and like BMW and AUDI its going for a more subtle look of sublime elegance, only that it’s doing much better; you will surely want to have one of these.
The turning feel is so smooth, more like an S-Class than a C-Class that at times you forget you are connected to the front wheels. There is almost no feedback and the suspension is best suited for normal driving though when push comes to shove it responds with profound agility around tight corners and in sudden directional changes.
Believe it or not, the 1.8L German engineered engine has the power output of engines with twice the capacity. The 1.8L E-250 CGI delivers 150kw (200bhp) and 310Nm of torque with a top speed of 242km/h and an acceleration from 0-100 km in 7.5 seconds. The more costly 2.1L E-250 CDI delivers the same power but with 500Nm of torque with a top speed of 240 km/h. its acceleration from rest to 100km/h is 7.7 seconds.
If you have five woes and fuel bills is one of them, now you have four to worry about. The engine size is a pocket friendly 1.8L for the CGI, smaller than most cars in its league yet with power commensurate or greater than theirs. The fuel economy is more like a 1.5L Toyota at 7.6L/100km (for my drive it was 7.8L/100km which I did extensively enough,) and with an additional $ 320 you get the E-250 CDI with an unbelievably low 5.1L/km, only 0.1L/100km more than the overrated Toyota Camry Hybrid.
Mercedes has never believed in smoke screen as part of its defense, and the E-250 CDI takes it even higher by being the least polluting car in its range. It emits 154g/km of C02 and promises 47.1 mpg economy-an improvement of 20g/km and 4.4 mpg over the previous generation E-220 CDI. The E-250 CGI is the least polluting e class at 134g/km of CO2.
Critics leveled against it suggest that the tail lights connote a Toyota-like appearance (many Mercedes owners hate Toyota.)
You also have to manually adjust your seat instead of electronically and that it lacks a reverse camera. The COMAND is not as intuitive as BMW’s iDRIVE and the satellite navigation system is not as advanced as of the BMW 5 series.

The H3 is HUMMER’s midsize SUV and the third model in the vehicle lineup. Based on the Chevrolet Colorado pickup platform, the H3 is designed to deliver authentic HUMMER style and off-road capability in a smaller, more fuel-efficient package. For 2008 the H3 Alpha was added to the lineup featuring a unique look and a more powerful engine. The OnStar advanced communication system is standard on the Hummer H3
After being left to languish for years, the Impala has finally gotten a much-needed redesign. The new Impala features contemporary styling and a choice of direct-injected engines, including the venerable 3.6 liter V6, a new 2.5 liter 4-cylinder, and the 2.4 liter eAssist “mild hybrid” system found in other full-size GM cars. New technology includes an active noise cancellation system for four-cylinder models.
With 182 horsepower and 172 pound-feet of torque, the drivetrain falls well short of the 288 horsepower offered up by the Ford Taurus, though it does so while returning significantly better fuel economy. GM Says the four-cylinder Impala will return 35 mpg highway, six mpg better than the full-size Ford.
Those who need a little extra grunt can step up to the company’s tried-and-true 3.6-liter V6 with 303 horsepower and 234 lb-ft of torque, and there’s also a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter four-cylinder available that produces 195 horsepower, while all three engines are mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox. Keep scrolling for the official press release from Chevrolet, and check our galleries of live and official images while you’re at it.
The 2014 Chevrolet Impala is built on the brands emblematic dual-cockpit interior. As you can view on the pictures below, the designer have put a greater attention to the details. In addition, they have included upscale features.
The new 2014 Impala is obviously all about comfort and refinement. This is due to the stronger body structure, designed to foster a quieter passenger environment and an enhanced feeling of quality. The stiffer architecture also offers refined ride and handling, which results bigger feeling of control and comfort.
In addition to all this, there is featured a comprehensive package of sound-absorbing, sound-suppressing which makes the 2014 Impala Chevrolet’s quietest full-size sedan.

Lincoln has an image problem. We know it, Ford knows it. Shaking its rep for being little more than tarted-up Fords for old folks isn’t going to happen overnight. But if the 2013 Lincoln MKZ set to hit the stand at the 2012 New York auto show is any indication, it looks as though things are finally starting to move in the right direction for the storied American luxury brand.
The Lincoln MKZ Concept promotes the company’s design future with a style that the company describes as “elegant simplicity,” a language that’s “warmer and more restrained and moves away from complex designs and traditional luxury.”
Inside, the Lincoln MKZ Concept is the picture of a warm styling mixed in with a spacious four-seat configuration. The sweeping design of the instrument panel creates a visual and comfortable interior. Lincoln used a combination of poplar wood and aluminum in bright and satin finishes for the prevalent material, as well as leather help create a sculptural, luxurious and comfortable interior space. The leather seats have been dressed in a Champagne hue perforation patter with matching dark taupe accents.
As far as technology is concerned, the MKZ Concept comes with an innovative interior that features push-button transmission gear selection, an open, tiered center console, and liquid crystal instrumentation. In addition, a reconfigurable 10.1 Thin Film Transistor (TFT) LCD is also part of the set-up, positioned just ahead of the driver and operated with the latest version of the MyLincoln Touch system.
As for the engine line-up, Lincoln didn’t reveal details on what kind of powertrain the MKZ Concept carries, although we expect the 2013 MKZ to be powered by the same line found on the MKS: a standard 300 HP 3.7-liter V6 engine and an optional 355 twin-turbo 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine.
Lincoln has penciled a production date for the MKZ later this year. At this point, no price tag has been given yet.

The 2013 Scion FR-S, with its affordable $24,000 base price packed with value, is a true rear-wheel drive sports machine, not some vague imitation with front-wheel drive pretending to be a sports coupe.
The FR-S is powered by a 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder boxer engine that can crank out 200 horsepower at 7,000 rpm and 151 lb.-ft. of torque at 6,400-6,600 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic, with paddle shifters and Dynamic Rev Management technology, for an additional $900. EPA fuel economy ratings with the manual gearbox is 22 city/30 highway/25 combined mpg. Interestingly, the automatic transmission, which has some taller gears and the same final drive ratio as the manual, gets 25 city/34 highway/28 combined mpg according to EPA estimates.
Lightweight and nimble handling are FR-S cornerstones. This is accomplished with a favorable front-to-rear weight ratio of 53:47 and a low center of gravity. Agile maneuverability and inspired handling are achieved with a tuned suspension setup consisting of MacPherson struts up front and a double wishbone system in the rear. Lightweight 17 7 inch alloy wheels wrapped with 215/45R17 summer tires and 11-inch ventilated disc brakes are standard on all four corners.
Further weight savings are accomplished with an aluminum hood, solid roof, and a real trunk instead of a hatchback design. The FR-S coupe weighs an impressive 2,758 pounds with the manual gearbox and 2,806 pounds when equipped with the automatic.
The 2013 Scion FR-S interior is a 2+2 seating configuration with a back seat about as useful as the backseat in an RX-8 – suitable for humans with very short legs or a couple bags of groceries. Of the three-gauge cluster, the large center-mounted tachometer dominates your attention and features a programmable shift indicator that lights up when redline is reached. The driver can set the warning to go off in 100 rpm increments starting at 2,000 rpm. Speed is displayed by both digital and analog gauges.
Connecting the driver to the dynamic machine is a performance oriented, 365mm diameter, leather-trimmed steering wheel with tilt and telescopic adjustments.

Nissan is conducting a voluntary safety recall of certain 2012 model year Armada large SUVs due to incorrect or missing information about the vehicles’ rims. Also included in this recall are certain 2012 model year Nissan Titan full-size pickups.
A notice on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) site lists the number of potential affected units at 26,626. Documentation from Nissan (PDF) breaks down the numbers as follows: 11,365 Armadas, 15,261 Titans.
Affected vehicles were built at the automaker’s Canton, Mississippi plant from August 12, 2011 (start of production) through March 13, 2012. According to Nissan, vehicles built before and after these dates are not affected because their certification labels contain the specified information.
At issue is noncompliance with S4.3.3 of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 110, specifically, that the rim size is not specified on the Part 567 Certification label.
The NHTSA bulletin indicates that omission of the rim size may lead to an incorrect tire and wheel combination, which may increased crash risk.
Also missing on the label (but specified on a separate Tire and Loading information placard) are specified tire size and label pressure. However, failure to show tire size and label pressure on the Part 567 Certification label is not a noncompliance.
What Nissan will do
Nissan will supply owners of affected vehicles with a new label and instructions on how to install it. Owners will also have the option of taking their vehicles to an authorized Nissan dealer to have the label installed at no charge. The Nissan safety recall is expected to begin on or about May 14, 2012.

Looks like Toyota and Gazoo Racing will be bringing more than just the Lexus LF-A to the Nurburgring 24-hour endurance race this week. In a surprising announcement, the Japanese automaker will also bring their new mid-engine convertible hybrid concept to Nurburgring, which they’ve christened as the Toyota GRMN Sports Hybrid Concept II.
An updated version of the first concept that was introduced at the 2010 Tokyo Auto Salon, the GRMN Sports Hybrid Concept II is an MR2-based hybrid concept that features plenty of styling cues from the fabled MR2 sports car. It was also designed in a far more aggressive detail befitting of its status as a new-age hybrid concept car.
In addition to the advanced convertible design language of the car, Toyota and GRMN (Gazoo Racing tuned by MN2) also improved on the car’s mid-engine sports-hybrid AWD system that now carries a 3.5-liter Type 2GR-FXE V6 engine that produces 249 horsepower to go with a front electric motor that bumps up the output to 299 horsepower.
So far, these are the only details we have of the new Toyota GRMN Sports Hybrid Concept II, but rest assured, we’ll have more details when the car makes its official debut at the 24 Hours of Nurburgring this weekend.
