The six-wheeled Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG is beyond ridiculous – either in a good or bad way, depending on your specific taste. Based on the 2014 G-Class, but with a host of upgrades, the 6×6 has five differentials, a $615,000 price tag, and off-road credentials that would make an original Army-spec Hummer H1 go weak in the knees. This isn’t stopping Carlsson, a well-known and popular Mercedes-Benz tuner, from upping the game even more, combining a healthy power upgrade along with special, customized interior trimmings to make the G63 AMG 6×6 even more over-the-top, if that’s possible.
The G-Class lineup is already a venerable, capable, and trendy offering, with record-breaking sales. This is impressive, considering this is basically a platform from 1979. That’s right; other than chassis and styling upgrades – along with plenty of modern, Mercedes-Benz luxury added in – you’re looking at an almost 40-year-old design.
Add another $500,000 in off-road hardware and upgrades, and things are bound to get interesting. But that’s just not enough for Carlsson.

At the 2013 Auto Shanghai, Mercedes unveiled the GLA Concept – the initial preview for the company’s fifth SUV. Just a few months after, the production GLA will make its world debut at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show.
The production GLA-Class is built on the same front-wheel-drive architecture that features transversely mounted engines as the new-generation A-Class and B-Class. From the A-Class, the new GLA also borrows its engine lineup, but U.S. customers will only have one variant, the GLA250, which is offered in standard front-wheel drive and optional 4MATIC.
On the U.S. market, the model will be put on sale in the fall of 2014.
Updated 08/14/2013: The production Mercedes GLA will make its world debut in September at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, but Mercedes just released the first official details on the production version GLA.

For $2,999 down and $499 a month, owners can drive their Tucson FCV without the cost of refueling, as Hyundai is including free hydrogen fill-ups at its ‘At Your Service’ maintenance centers.

We already knew that the Lamborghini Urus would go on sale for the 2017 model year, but the SUV’s powertrain was still a mystery, with both naturally aspirated V-10 and V-12 options on the table. A twin-turbo, V-8 powerplant has also been in the rumormill, as was a hybrid drivetrain, but it appears that the Italians might be forced to go with the former in order to meet the rigorous global emissions regulations that are looming in.
“An SUV could be a turbo engine for the first time for us,” Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann told Auto Express, while head of R&D Maurizio Reggiani hinted the company may be forced to drop turbocharged units into its models by 2017.
Although the representatives declined to go into specifics, Audi’s new twin-turbo, 4.0-liter V-8 mill is the most likely candidate for the Lamborghini Urus, which will also share underpinnings with the upcoming Audi Q7 and Bentley SUV.
The said engine currently pumps 560 horsepower into the RS6 Avant and the RS7, but output could be increased to reach the 600-horsepower mark, given Lamborghini’s desire to roll out the sportiest SUV on the market.

Every year, BMW brings a number of its vehicles to RETTmobil, considered as the best European expo for emergency vehicles. This year, the Bavarian automaker is doing it again with a handful of models that are built specifically for this occasion. One of these models is the BMW X5 xDrive30d Paramedic Vehicle, which gives a whole new meaning to a luxury SUV ambulance.
The BMW X5 xDrive30d Paramedic Vehicle isn’t your ordinary X5. It’s actually been fully equipped to serve a specific purpose. The exterior colors pretty much say it all, right? The white base of the X5 makes way for orange graphics throughout the body. Custom-issued emergency lights sit on top of the X5 and just under the kidney grilles, further showcasing the breadth of customization BMW undertook to turn this SUV into a full-fledged paramedic vehicle.
The interior of this X5 xDrive30d wasn’t shown in any of the photos, but to serve its purpose, we can surmise that BMW removed most of the accessories from a standard X5 and slapped on a host of life-saving equipment. It should also have tremendous amounts of space and an automatic tailgate that makes it more accessible in times of emergency.
Another important element of this paramedic vehicle is its engine. In this case, this X5 comes with a 3.0-liter six-cylinder in-line diesel engine that produces 258 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque, more than enough power to be of good use in emergency situations. It’s also been equipped with xDrive all-wheel drive, allowing it to successfully navigate through the toughest of terrain.
The BMW X5 xDrive30d Paramedic Vehicle is one of seven vehicles BMW is bringing to ReTTmobil. But we’re guessing that lots of eyes will be on this one.

Along with the mighty SLS Final Edition, Mercedes is also displaying a bad-ass GLA concept car at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show. Dubbed the GLA 45 AMG Concept car, this sweet compact crossover previews a new high-performance SUV coming from Germany.
The concept is powered by the same AMG 2.0-liter turbocharged engine found in some of its closest relatives, like CLA 45 AMG or A45 AMG. This petite powerhouse puts 360 horsepower and 331 pound-feet of torque into an AMG 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system via an AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT seven-speed sports transmission. This combination teams up to deliver a stellar 0-to-60 mph sprint time of under 5 seconds and a thrifty 33 mpg.
Lest you believe that Mercedes would stop at the engine, it also installed the staple AMG body kit to help give the crossover some aesthetic credentials to go along with its peppy four-pot. This kit includes an AMG front apron with a large front splitter, and large air intakes, a “twin-blade” radiator grille in silver chrome, side sill panels with high-gloss black inserts, and around back, a set of black roof rails and a large rooftop spoiler.

The Range Rover Evoque has quickly become the hottest-selling model in Land Rover’s lineup and isn’t showing any signs of slowing down for 2014, thanks to a new release from the automaker. While all of the specifics of the 2014 Evoque are still unknown, Land Rover UK has outlined some of the technological advancements the model will carry into 2014 – we assume these will be a part of the 2014 U.S.-spec Evoque too.
The global Evoque lineup will carry three different engines: a 150 horsepower 2.2-liter diesel, a 190-horsepower 2.2-litrer diesel and a 2.0-liter gasoline engine with 240 horsepower. The U.S. market will certainly receive the 2.0-liter engine, but it may also gain one of the two diesel offerings in 2014. These engines all link up to an all-new nine-speed ZF-sourced transmission, which has unperceivable shifts and wide spread of gear ratios to make for smooth acceleration and excellent fuel economy.
Also new for 2014 is the Active Driveline, which according to Land Rover is an “on-demand” four-wheel drive system that enhances agility and improves fuel economy, thanks to it deactivating the rear wheels at speeds over 22 mph. However, should the Evoque need that extra grip over 22 mph, the system takes less than 300 milliseconds to activate the rear wheels. Additionally, an E-Diff on the rear delivers Torque Biasing between the rear wheels for optimal traction and control.
Safety features also take center stage in 2014, as the Evoque will feature Park Exit to help you pull out of parallel parking spots; Perpendicular Park to automatically center the SUV in a parking bay; Closing Vehicle Sensing and Reverse Traffic Detection to warn the driver of traffic behind the vehicle; Lane Departure Warning; Traffic Sign Recognition; and Wade Sensing. Also included will be Land Rover InControl Remote to contact emergency services in the event of an accident or Land Rover Assist in the event of technical issues, and Land Rover InControl Secure to track the vehicle in the event of a theft.
And finally, there are a few aesthetic changes that include minor detail changes on the exterior, new colors for the interior, four new alloy wheels and revised :and Rover badges.
More details will come as we get closer to the model’s release in Europe in the third quarter of 2013.

Dodge’s attempt to re-inject some life to the Journey looks to have paid off with the 2013 model. For those looking to have a family-friendly SUV with a hidden thirst for power lurking underneath, the 2013 Journey is as good a choice as any.

Back in August 2011, the first spy images of the new Land Rover Range Rover were revealed, so it would only make sense that Land Rover would also be preparing a renewed Range Rover Sport. These first mules caught testing by our spy photographers don’t reveal too much since they consist mostly of the features used in the current body, but they do show that the new Sport is in the works.
Just like the standard Range Rover, the Sport model will be all about the reduction of weight. For that, Land Rover is paying extra attention to the materials used to construct the vehicle. There are rumors stating that Landrover will be adopting a new platform from the RangeRover, quite possibly using a modified Jaguar XJ platform tweaked to maintain the Range Rover’s off-road performance.
Nothing has been said about the type of engine that will be used for the new Range Rover Sport, but Land Rover will probably just trick out the current 5.0 V8 to increase its output and reduce fuel consumption.
Expect to see the new Range Rover Sport at the end of 2012.

It’s safe to say that aftermarket companies will come in droves at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. We’ve already seen some from German tuner Brabus, but now it’s time to turn our attention toward its sister company, Startech.
The tuner is promising to bring a number of tuned Land Rover, Jaguar, and Range Rover models to Geneva, but for now, it’s resorted to just giving us a sneak peek of a covered Range Rover that will be unveiled in Geneva next week.
It certainly looks like Startech has a pretty interesting program under those red sheets. The only visible part of the vehicle is the headlight setup and they look completely different from what we see in a Range Rover. There also appears to be a redesigned bumper with integrated LEDs and new air intakes that suggest a completely redesigned look for the Range Rover.
Suffice to say, we’re curious to see what Startech has in store for us, not just with this model, but its promise of other Jags and Land Rovers, too.

The next-generation Land Rover Freelander has been caught testing for the first time. At a first look, it seems to be an XL version of the Range Rover Evoque, but actually it is a mule for the all new Land Rover Freelander.
Why are we so sure that this is not just another Evoque? Because this mule is a little bit different: the area around the fuel cap is a little bit different, front and the wheel arches are slightly changed.

The Mercedes GLG-Class will be roughly based on the newly announced A-Class and will look like a shrunken version of the utilitarian, yet luxurious, G-Class.
The GLG-Class will be Mercedes’ answer to the small-SUV market, which is dominated by models like the BMW X3 and the Audi Q5. Though Mercedes isn’t planning on marketing this as a true off-road vehicle, it will certainly do the job of crossing pot-holes and small ditches. It’s also for the people that like the boxy, go-anywhere design of the G-Class, but may not be able to afford it.
The Mercedes GLG is one of 10 models that Mercedes plans to unveil before 2020. With the GLG-Class’ release, the number of SUVs in Merc’s lineup will increase to six, including the unannounced GLA crossover in 2013.
