Ford has been selling the F-Series since 1948, but the F-150 model didn’t arrive until 1975, when Ford used it as a `tweener pickup to span the gap between the F-100 and F-250. When Ford rolled out the Atlas Concept at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show, we were pretty sure that the automaker was already hard at work overhauling the existing F-150 in its likeness. And for the 2015 model year, our suspicions are confirmed, as brand-new F-150, based on the Atlas concept, hit dealers.
With this redesign, Ford will focus on drastically reducing the F-150’s total weight by making use of lightweight aluminum materials. Under the hood, the model will carry a familiar line of engines with a new, 2.7-liter EcoBoost delivering awesome power and better fuel economy.

The Cherolet Colorado debuted in 2004 as the replacement to Chevy’s first-ever, American-built compact pickup: the S-10 (the LUV that predated the S-10 was an Isuzu product). The Colorado continued with only minor changes through the 2012 model year when it was abruptly discontinued. Little did we know at that time, this was more of a break than a discontinuation of the model, as the covers were pulled off the totally redesigned 2015 Chevy Colorado at the 2013 LA Auto show joining the still fresh Silverado and Silverado HD. The Colorado is based on the global truck platform, but is highly ‘Americanized’ with many key components swapped out for heavier-duty items based on the new Silverado.
The Colorado rides on a fully-boxed, hydroformed steel frame giving it a sturdy platform for hauling and towing. Initially the Colorado will come with two gasoline engine options with a diesel debuting the following year. This diesel engine shows just how serious Chevy is in making the new midsize pickup a class-leader. We suspect that other automakers will soon follow suit and offer diesels in their midsize pickups.
Updated 06/18/2014: Chevrolet announced specifications for the 2015 Colorado which will go on sale this fall. With output starting from 200 horsepower, the new Colorado will be the most powerful in the midsized truck segment. Full details after the jump.

NHRA Alcohol Funny Car race car driver Alexis Dejoria is the only woman competing in the Toyota Racing Dream Build Challenge. To make a splash in the competition, Dejoria took the challenge of building a custom-tuned vehicle using the biggest vehicle in the lot, a stock, full-sized Toyota Tundra.
Not lacking confidence one bit, Dejoria enlisted the help of Dale Dondel and his team at Racer Engineering to built the meanest vehicle at SEMA.
The first order of business was to make extensive modifications to the chassis and body of the Tundra. Dejoria and Racer Engineering made use of fabricated long A-arms, trailing arms, while also installing massive racing shocks, a new front and rear bumper, a new brush guard, fiberglass front and rear fenders, a dual spare tire carrier in the bed, and a new set of 17″ Mehod racing wheels wrapped in Maxxis tires.
All told, the result is 20″ of wheel travel in front and 24″ in the rear, enough to allow the Tundra Pre-Runner to run roughshod over just about any navigable stretch of desert race territory.
Inside, the modifications include NRG racing seats with custom Hooker 7-point harnesses, a full leather-wrapped roll cage, and a high-powered JBL sound system.
Under its hood, the Tundra Pre-Runner received a 5.7-liter TRD-supercharged V8 engine fed by a custom rear-mounted fuel cell.
“I wanted to do the best possible off-road vehicle we could,” DeJoria said. “I think this is going to be the baddest vehicle at SEMA.”
Not one to make bold exaggerations, DeJoria could be on to something here, especially if her Tundra Pre-Runner somehow wins the Toyota Racing Dream Build Challenge. Voting for your favorite project is now open at the Toyota Racing Facebook page until October 29, 2012. The winner will receive $50,000, money that will go to their chosen charity. In Dejoria’s case, that charity would be Safety Harbor Kids.
