Not a lot of ground clearance

The all-new Audi Q7 has been caught on camera once again and this time we have clearer photos of a prototype wearing slightly less camouflage.

Just like in previous spy photos, the new generation of the Audi Q7 seems to be a tad smaller but maybe that is because of the more sloping roofline. In addition, it has a very low ground clearance which is a surprise given the body style. We notice it will have a massive front grille and a completely new bumper with generous air intakes.

The SUV will allegedly go on a massive 800 lbs (363 kg) diet and will be equipped with 6- and 8-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines, including a 3.0-liter V6 TFSI with 310 HP (228 kW) and a 4.2-liter V8 TDI generating 385 HP (283 kW).

Later on during the car’s lifespan we expect to see a plug-in hybrid packing a 3.0-liter TDI and an electric motor which pumps out an extra 115 HP (84 kW). According to long-time WCF user w0bBle, an entry-level Q7 will be offered with a small 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter TDI along with a range-topping model with a V8 TDI powering the SQ7 Diesel.

Expect the car to receive its first public outing in March 2014 at the Geneva Motor Show. If that won’t happen, the new Q7 will likely be showcased in September at the Paris Motor Show. Either way, the SUV will go on sale towards the end of next year as a 2015MY.
