Should offer a number of improvements

Despite valiant efforts by designers and engineers, a lot of infotainment systems are somewhat lackluster to use. Porsche is hoping to change that by introducing a brand new, HTML5-based infotainment system on the 918 Spyder.

Autobild says the system will offer a number of advantages over traditional infotainment systems including better smartphone integration and improved internet access. The system’s interface is also easier to design as it’s built around HTML instead of a proprietary system.

Little else is known about the system but a QNX Porsche 911 concept was introduced at the 2012 Consumer Electronics Show. It featured a number of interesting features including a reconfigurable digital instrument cluster, “ultra HD voice technology” and one-touch Bluetooth smartphone pairing via Near Field Communications (NFC).
