2013 NASCAR Chevrolet SS Race Car 29.11.2012
Will compete in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series
In a surprise move, Chevrolet has unveiled the 2013 NASCAR SS race car far away from the glitz and glamour of the Los Angeles Auto Show.
Set to compete in the Sprint Cup Series, the race car closely resembles the Chevrolet SS that will be unveiled at the North American International Auto Show in January. This likely means the model will have a slender grille, sweptback headlights and aggressive lower intakes with LED fog lights. We can also expect wraparound taillights and a stainless steel dual exhaust system.
Chevrolet didn’t have much to say about the race car – other than it has rear-wheel drive and a small block V-8 engine – but they did reveal the road-going SS will be based on the company’s global rear-wheel-drive architecture and enter limited production in late 2013.
In a statement GM North America President Mark Reuss said, “With the SS, Chevrolet is delivering a true rear-wheel-drive NASCAR race car that is very closely linked to the performance sedan that will be available for sale, ensuring that our most loyal enthusiasts will have the opportunity to experience the same thrill every day on the open road that our race car drivers enjoy on the track on race day.”
A step in the right direction
Honda was caught off guard when consumers and critics panned their redesigned Civic, so the company has just unveiled an emergency facelift in Los Angeles.
On the styling front, the sedan has been revamped for a “more youthful and premium feel.” As part of the makeover the car was equipped with modified bumpers, a new hood and a black honeycomb mesh grille. There are also restyled headlights, additional chrome trim and updated alloy wheels.
While the coupe doesn’t benefit from the exterior styling tweaks, both models have an upgraded interior with revised upholstery, soft-touch materials and new silver accents. The Civic also comes with additional standard equipment including an i-MID display, a rearview camera, an exterior temperature gauge and Bluetooth/USB/iPod connectivity. Lastly, there’s additional sound deadening material and a thicker windscreen to limit noise, vibration and harshness.
Engine options carryover, but the model gains a retuned suspension with stiffer springs and thicker stabilizer bars. There’s also a revised electric power steering system which promises to deliver improved handling and feel.
The 2013 Civic sedan goes on sale today and U.S. pricing starts at $18,165. The Civic coupe, on the other hand, will be launched on December 5th and retail for $17,965.
Aston Martin attempted to adopt styling changes that are reminiscent of the outgoing Aston Martin Virage, so the DB9 gets a more pronounced rear boot lid spoiler, a large lower front grille with five horizontal vanes, a new front splitter, zinc bonnet vents and characteristic Aston Martin side stakes. Overall, the track is wider and the rear arches have a more muscular feel.
The engine is a new-generation V12 unit using technology developed for the upcoming Vanquish. The headline figures are 517hp and 620Nm of torque, improvements of 47hp and 20Nm respectively over the outgoing model. The 2013 DB9 also gets bi-xenon headlights and LED side-repeaters.
Both Coupe and Volante body styles will be available from launch. 2013 Aston Martin DB9′s are available to order now through Aston Martin dealers worldwide. For more information on the new model check out our official story!

During our visit at the Los Angeles Auto Show 2012, we came across a large number of sports cars, supercars and hypercars. In the gallery below you can check an overview of the cars we spotted at the annual west coast car show. You will come across many supercars, luxury cars, and sports cars.
It was little more than logic that once Porsche dropped new-generation Boxster onto the market, the Cayman was the next one to be uncovered. Its world debut was made today at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show and sales on the American market will begin in the Spring of 2013 a starting price of $52,600 for the Cayman and $63,800 for the Cayman S. Prices do not include a destination charge of $950.
The problem is that the next-generation Cayman offers no surprises. The design language, interior and engine lineup, we have seen it all in the previously announced Boxster. When compared to the previous generation, the new Cayman is 66 lbs lighter and 15 percent more fuel efficient. Engine’s output has also been increased by 10 horsepower in the standard model and by 5 horsepower in the S version.
With all those updates is the new Cayman any better than the model it replaces?

Porsche Cayman originally appeared on topspeed.com on Wednesday, 28 November 2012 18:00 EST.
The output was raised from 710hp and 819Nm of torque to 730hp and 950Nm. The increase in power was achieved using a bigger intercooler and exhaust system. All the power enables a top speed of 355km/h.
2014 Mazda3 patent sketch, 1600, 27.11.2012
Debuts sometime next year
Several alleged design sketches of the 2014 Mazda3 have been found on the European Trademark Office register.
Set to go on sale next year, the model has a Kodo design which closely resembles the Mazda6. Notable highlights include a sporty lower intake, wraparound taillights and a prominent grille that extends into the headlights.
Little else is known about the model, but previous reports have suggested it will ride on the same platform that underpins the CX-5. If this holds true, the car could weigh hundreds of pounds less than its predecessor.
Engine options are still shrouded in secrecy, but the U.S. variant could be powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol that develops 155 bhp (116 kW). There have also been rumors about a high-performance Mazdaspeed3, but nothing is official as of yet.
Audi S5 by Vilner
Interior completely redone
Bulgarian interior specialist Vilner has revealed its latest program for the Audi S5.
For the exterior they have fitted a matte grey body wrap and a gloss black finish for the front grille, diffuser, trunk spoiler and alloys. The most dramatic changes can be found inside the cabin where they have really outdone themselves this time.
All surfaces have been reupholstered in black and brown leather with Alcantara, with the seats wrapped in leather with elegant diamond stitching on the shoulders and base. We also find the micro-suede material adorning the pillars, roof headliner, dashboard and rear view mirror. Into the front headrests Vilner has stitched the customer’s initials, while running along the roof lining’s length is contrasting black leather.
German tuner Brabus has released a new Power Diesel program featuring models, which are built in small-series production based on the latest Mercedes-Benz 350 CDI BlueEfficiency models. The common denominator is a Brabus D6S Power Diesel engine with a peak torque of 690Nm and depending on the model a rated power output of up to 313hp.
First up is the Brabus E 350 CDI Power Diesel Coupe. The two-door is available in two versions with or without Brabus aerodynamic-enhancement kit at a starting price of 53,879 euros. The Brabus D6S Power Diesel engine produces 313hp of power and a peak torque of 690Nm, on tap from a low 1,600rpm.
Powered by this engine the coupe sprints from rest to 100km/h in just 5.9 seconds and reaches an electronically limited top speed of 250km/h. The stainless-steel quad sport exhaust system can be installed together with the sport springs and the Monoblock F wheels with a diameter of 19 inches. The Power Diesel Coup in version 2 with full body-styling kit sells for 58,534 euros.
The second model is the Brabus CLS 350 CDI Power Diesel Shooting Brake. The new power output of 313hp is based on the new Mercedes CLS 350 CDI Shooting Brake. The CLS has a sprint time of 5.9 seconds for 0-100km/h and an electronically limited top speed of 250km/h.
The total price of 68,879 euros includes exclusive components such as Monoblock F 19 inch cross-spoke wheels, ride height lowering and a stainless-steel sport exhaust. For a price of 75,776 euros the model is available as a version 2 with an exterior design upgrade.
The third model is a SUV, the Brabus ML 350 CDI Power Diesel. The model is based on the Mercedes ML 350 CDI and it sells for just 71,121 euros. The SUV includes bi-xenon headlights, the Comand system, automatic climate control, leather upholstery, panoramic roof, backup camera and many more details. With a power output of 309hp and a peak torque of 690Nm this turbodiesel model bridges the gap that resulted from dispensing with a V8 diesel engine in the M-Class.
Running on Brabus Monoblock R 20 inch wheels, the all-wheel-drive car takes just 6.0 seconds for the sprint to 100km/h and reaches a top speed of 229km/h. A lowering module for the standard-specification air suspension is also part of the equipment as are the stainless-steel quad sport exhaust system and interior features such as scuff plates with backlit Brabus logo, velour floor mats and aluminum pedals and door-lock pins. The Brabus Power Diesel version 2 with exterior design upgrade is available for an additional 3,448 euros.
The final model is the Brabus GL 350 CDI Power Diesel. It is based on the GL 350 CDI and offers power normally reserved for a V8 engine. Thanks to the upgraded engine, it now offers 310hp and 690Nm. The top speed is 225km/h. Included in the price of 81,810 euros are the stainless-steel sport exhaust system with two tailpipes, Brabus Monoblock Q 10Jx22 king-size wheels, a ride height lowering and custom interior features such as aluminum shift paddles on the steering wheel.
A little after six o’clock this past Sunday morning, two men aged 26 and 27 were involved in a serious car accident. The accident occurred in Belgium Bree, just across the border from Budel Dorplein. Police reports are stating the two drivers got into an altercation at a local nightclub earlier in the evening, before racing their Porsche Cayenne and an unspecified model AMG Mercedes.
The two cars reportedly collided while traveling at high speed through a roundabout, with the Porsche ending up upside-down in the ditch adjacent to the road. Although details are foggy, early reports point to a third, uninvolved Belgian driver being fatally wounded in the wreck.
Police on the scene were heard as saying on record that, the wreck occurred at speeds above 70 mph. The translation is a bit suspect here, so take these quotes with a grain of salt. Local police went on further stating; “We will have to wait for traffic analysis to come back before any final conclusions are made”.
Our thoughts go out to the third driver who was killed.
