It’s perfectly understandable to drool over the Chevrolet COPO Camaro. After all, Chevy will only build 138 models – 69 for the initial batch and another 69 due to huge public demand – so it’s safe to say that only a handful of lucky owners will get the chance to own one.

But if you’re really adamant to have one, you can get the chance to bid for this one-off Inferno Orange Metallic COPO Camaro Convertible that will be auctioned off at the 2013 Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction in January to benefit the American Heart Association. However, before that, the car will be in attendance at the 2012 SEMA Auto Show.

There are a number of things to love about this particular COPO Camaro Convertible. For starters, it’s car number 69 and will be the one of only two convertible models built. More importantly, this one will be the only one to be handed to an actual owner because the other model – car number 68 – isn’t planned for public sale.

It’s also the only 2012 COPO Camaro model to be painted in Inferno Orange Metallic with matching custom graphics and a special interior trim. Likewise, only 20 COPO Camaros will carry the unmistakable 327 engine and 4.0-liter supercharger that produces 550 horsepower. This bad boy is one of them.

Jim Campbell, GM U.S. Vice President of Performance Vehicles and Motorsports, understands better than anybody else the exclusivity of this one-off model. “The COPO Camaro program has been a special program and there’s not a better way to close out the 2012 racing season than with the final – and most unique – one of the production run,” he said.

“Chevrolet is proud to once again partner with the American Heart Association at Barrett-Jackson for the sale of this COPO Camaro convertible. It will make a great race car or collector vehicle for a lucky bidder, who will be buying a piece of history.

Charitable cause notwithstanding, you don’t need any more convincing that this 2012 COPO Camaro Convertible is worthy of your bids.

SEMA 2012: Lamborghini Aventador LP900 Molto Veloce by DMC

SEMA 2012 Lamborghini Aventador LP900 Molto Veloce by DMC

One of the star attractions at the 2012 SEMA show is this, the Lamborghini Aventador LP900 Molto Veloce by DMC. It has been built by RBD body shop and sits on the Giovanna stand. Of course, we’ve seen the DMC Lamborghini Aventador LP900 Molto Veloce before in Hong Kong!

The body kit includes a carbon fiber front diffuser, carbon fiber lip and splitter. The carbon fiber side flap and the carbon fiber side skirt diffusers complement the exterior looks. All items can be installed without visibly damaging the Aventador since they either exchange for the OEM parts, or conveniently add-on, which guarantees that the car can be brought back to its original state of art, at any time.

Troller R-X concept showcased in Sao Paulo

Troller R-X concept

Based on the T4.

The Ford Brazil-designed Troller R-X concept has been presented at the 2012 Sao Paulo Motor Show.

Up until 2007 Troller was an independent Brazilian automaker that produced the T4 and the Pantanal pickup. Ford bought the company and at the moment they are making the T4 which looks a lot like the Jeep Wrangler.

For the event in Sao Paulo, Ford Brazil’s Design Center has introduced this T4-based R-X concept that features a new front grille, fiberglass body and a redesigned hood with a raised central feature. The bumpers are higher and longer, while the headlamps and taillights have received LEDs.

The regular 2013 Troller T4 is powered by a 3.2-liter turbocharged engine with only 165 hp (123 kW) and 280 lb-ft (380 Nm) and comes with three types of traction: 4×2, 4×4 low and 4×4 high.

In 2011, Tasca Racing set out to make history by putting together a Cobra Jet tuning package that could establish a quarter mile run in the sevens. They fell a tad bit short, coming in at a still impressive 8.06 seconds at a speed of170 mph. That time alone was enough to make this Cobra Jet the fastest in the world, but Tasca wanted more.

The Tasca team headed back to the track in an attempt to break their own record. During a test session at Bradenton Motorsports Park in Florida, Tasca’s Cobra Jet not only smashed its own record, but also became the first to break the 8 second barrier: the car ran the quarter mile in 7.96 seconds at a speed of 174 mph. Shortly after establishing the new record, the Tasca Cobra Jet hit the England Dragway where it ran an incredible time of 7.848 seconds at a speed of 174.4 mph.

Making killer cars and breaking serious records, that is what it is all about in the racing and tuning world.

Some time back CustomKingz from Germany specializing in the import scene and tuning did an one-off project based on a Dodge Charger SRT-8 Superbee. The Vossen wheels dealer then fit the car with VVS-CV3 wheels sizing 22×9 in the front and 22×10.5 inches in the rear with 265/30 R22 tires in the front and 295/25 R22 tires in the back. A Magnum R/T was also included in this photoshoot, it featured the same wheels with the dimensions matching those of the Charger. The cars were also lowered using KW V1 Coilovers.

Hennessey Cadillac VR1200 tests Texas’ highway cameras, hits 203.9 mph [video]

Top speed of 220.5 mph.

Earlier this week John Hennessey ran into Texas Lt. Gov David Dewhrust and told him that he has a suitable car for testing the TxTag toll tag camera system for the new 85mph section of the Texas State Highway 130.

Indeed he did as the car he was talking about was the impressive VR1200 Twin Turbo Coupe modified to produce 1,226 hp (914 kW) and 1,190 lb-ft (1501 Nm).

The recently installed system worked like a charm as it managed to grab both front and rear license plates, with the car’s toll tag at 203.9 mph (328 km/h) before hitting 220.5 mph (355 km/h).

Asked if this was the first time when he hit more than 200 mph (322 km/h) on a state highway with one of his custom cars, Hennessey responded with a “no comment”.

The 85mph high-speed section of the SH-130 is now officially open.

Ecclestone to act as Ferrari gesture sparks controversy

Scuderia Ferrari F2012 with Italian Navy flag for Indian Grand Prix 25.10.2012

Bernie Ecclestone has vowed to look into a burgeoning controversy about Ferrari’s decision to run an Italian navy flag logo on its F1 livery this weekend in India.

The move, linked to Indian officials holding two Italian marines over the recent killing of two Indian fishermen, has angered Indian officials and may also contravene the FIA’s anti-political statutes.

The Indian government has indeed admitted its disapproval, an external affairs spokesman saying the use of “sporting events to promote causes which are not of a sporting nature is not in keeping with the spirit of sports”.

India’s National Fishermen’s Forum is also unhappy, saying Ferrari’s decision amounted to “a shame on the nation”.

The spokesman said letting Ferrari push ahead with the gesture is “a serious lapse on the part of the government and sports authorities of the country.

“We strongly demand that the company (Ferrari) be asked to reconsider this,” he added.

When asked about the controversy, F1 chief executive Bernie Ecclestone said on Friday: “What we’d do, we’d look at the (Indian) national sporting authority (FMSCI) here to have a look at that.

“We are not political,” the Briton insisted. “Let’s see what can be done. We’ll keep politics out of it,” he added.

Toyota FJ-S Cruiser Concept by TRD

The Toyota FJ Cruiser is a pretty unique – and paradoxical – car in its own right. It’s an off-roader that actually looks polished. It’s got great performance credentials yet you always feel that it could do much better.

The best part of the FJ Cruiser is that it always seems to be ripe for customization. At the 2012 SEMA Auto Show, that’s exactly what were going to get when Toyota and TRD present their latest FJ mash-up, called the FJ-S Cruiser Concept.

The folks from Toyota are all excited about TRD’s latest creation, particularly the company’s national manager of engagement marketing and motorsports, Keith Dahl, who said: “TRD’s work on high-performance off-road variants of Toyota vehicles goes back a number of years. The FJ-S is a great example of their off-road expertise.”

It’s a little curious when you hear that TRD actually upgraded the FJ-S Cruiser Concept’s chassis and body structure by adding what they’re calling an “exoskeleton,” especially when you consider how already imposing the stock model is. But with the upgrades, Toyota now has even more room to work on the off-roader’s suspension and wheel/tire set-ups.

Aesthetically, the FJ-S Cruised Concept received a boatload of new modifications, including a new front nudge bar, rock rails, and a cat-back exhaust. Inside, the FJ-S Cruiser Concept was create to a two-tone leather interior with matching FJ-S logos on the headrests.

Under its hood, the FJ-S Cruiser Concept’s 4.0-liter V6 engine was given a TRD supercharger system with a Twin Vortex System and a large air-to-water intercooler. All this nets the off-roader with an increased output of 345 horsepower and 345 lb/ft of torque, numbers that represent a 30% and 25% increase from the stock model.
